Safety Alert: Baby Walkers May Pose a Risk of Serious Injury

Health Canada has issued a safety alert regarding baby walkers that were previously available for purchase online.

Baby walkers have actually been banned in Canada since 2004 because of the risk of injury they pose to babies.

Which products are affected?

The recent Health Canada alert specifically identifies:

  • 2 in 1 Push Baby Walker – HappySteps

  • Baby Walker Anti Rollover – First Steps

These products were previously available through Babybubblestore.ca but have since been removed from sale on the website.

Why are baby walkers unsafe?

Baby walkers allow babies to move around independently before they would normally be able to do so. This can give them access to hazards that would otherwise be out of reach.

There is also a risk that a baby in a walker could fall down stairs, potentially causing serious injury or death. For these reasons, baby walkers are banned in Canada.

What should parents and caregivers do?

If you have one of the affected baby walkers, stop using it immediately. Health Canada recommends safely disposing of the walker in a way that prevents it from being used again.

As of Health Canada’s October 2, 2025 advisory, no incidents or injuries associated with these specific products had been reported to Health Canada.
