6 Months

Welcome to the 6-month milestone!
Your baby is growing quickly and becoming more interactive every day. At this age, many babies can sit with support, reach for toys, and respond to their name. You may notice new sounds and giggles as they explore their voice and surroundings. This is also when many parents start introducing solid foods alongside breast milk or formula. Below, you’ll find helpful tips and resources to support your baby’s development, feeding, sleep routines, and play during this exciting stage.

Activity Corner

At this age, you can encourage your baby to roll in both directions! Do this by lying down next to your baby on a soft surface, and put them on their side (you can roll up a blanket to support them in this position). You can then talk and sing to your baby, encouraging them to reach out for you until they roll over! Another fun activity is to place your baby in front of a mirror for visual self- discovery!

Tod-Tidbit

Around this age, babies still don’t have “object permanence", meaning they don’t realize that a hidden object still exists. This is what makes peek-a-boo so fun!

Healthy Habits

Avoid the use of over the counter medicines (aside from fever and
pain relievers) for coughs and colds. While these medicines may help reduce symptoms of coughs and colds, they do not treat the underlying disease and may have serious side effects in young children.
