  • Feeding at least 8–12 times in 24 hours

  • Seems satisfied or relaxed after feeds

  • Audible swallowing or gulping during feeding

  • Wet and dirty diapers increasing each day

  • Yellow, loose stools by day 5

  • Steady weight gain

  • Alert and active when awake

  • Has fewer wet or dirty diapers than expected

  • Has reddish “brick dust” urine crystals in the diaper
